Dreaming of the Disney Dream at Castaway Cay

Good Memories

The Disney Dream cruise ship at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas

The Disney Dream is docked at the Disney Cruise Line’s Bahamas island of Castaway Cay, as seen during our 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise.

If everything is going well during your visit, there are not many places better than Castaway Cay. Unless you don’t like beautiful beaches, tropical settings, water, islands, cruise ships, and a few thousand friends. If any of those give you problems, then maybe Castaway Cay is not quite your cup of tea. Not that a Bahamas island is a literal cup of tea. But you know what I mean.

Anyway, for our visit, everything was going quite well. The weather was beautiful. The water was calm. And our few thousand friends were all well behaved, as they always seem to be there. Nothing at all to complain about.

The day that we had at Castaway Cay is the perfect kind of day to look back and dream about. On a cold, rainy day, it is fun to look back and remember the good times that we had there. Even on a warm, sunny day, you might find yourself remembering it, too. On that sort of day, you might find yourself thinking, “This weather is just like what we had at Castaway Cay! That was a good day!”

A Strange Sense of Humor

The other day, Laura and I were out at the horse barn. A piece of the horses’ salt block about the size of a sugar cube had broken off and was sitting on top of the stall door. Laura flicked it off of the door and in my direction, where it bounced off of my barn coat. I exclaimed, “I have been a-salted!”

Sometimes, Laura tries to act like I am not funny. But that time I was successful in making her laugh out loud. It is always fun when that happens. I do have a sometimes strange sense of humor, so it is always good when someone else thinks something is funny that I also think is funny.

I posted about the incident on Facebook. One friend replied, “Do I need to call the sheriff’s department on y’all?” I said, “No, I don’t think I could handle both a-salt and pepper spray.”

Like the heading says above, a strange sense of humor. I make no apologies for it, because it wouldn’t change anything anyway.

All the days of the afflicted are evil, but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast. - Proverbs 15:15

About the Photo

I have a spot on Castaway Cay where I like to take photos of the Disney Dream. This spot is near the Pelican Plunge water slide, close to the Pelican Point Bar, if you are looking for it. Nearby is an area that is sometime used for weddings, if there happens to be a wedding when you are there. Because the water and the ship in the distance would make a nice backdrop.

For the past several cruises, I have taken a photo of the ship from that location. This time around, I told myself I would try to find some different photo places. But then when I walked by this one, the view with the beautiful weather was just too nice to pass up.

For this photo, I liked how the palm tree fronds above and the bushes below frame the Disney Dream, along with the water and the sky. It was a perfect photo spot on a perfect day.
