Sailing on the Disney Fantasy

It was fun to include the lifeboats in this photo, especially catching the bow of one boat with its Disney Fantasy name showing. And I also wanted to include at least a little of the Deck 4 Promenade, because that is always one of our favorite places on the Disney Cruise ships. If you ever need a place to relax on a cruise, just go out to Deck 4, grab a chair, and sit for a while enjoying the sea air and the great views.

But let’s just keep that between us and don’t tell everyone, okay? We don’t want one of the best secrets of a Disney Cruise to get out in the open, do we? For all of the cruises we have been on, there have never been that many people out there, so apparently the word has not gotten out yet.

Safety First

For whatever reason, I always feel like it is a good idea to say that I was not standing on the rail to take this photo. I was not even leaning far out over the rail. Instead, I was standing firmly with both feet planted on the deck. I was holding my camera slightly over the rail, but I made sure to have the lens cap in my pocket and the camera strap securely around my neck. If I dropped my camera overboard, I don’t think the fish would be nice enough to send it back. After all, their fins are not strong enough to throw something up that high.

Sometimes, you hear stories or see online videos of people doing some rather stupid things, especially when they are on vacation. Don’t be one of those people. Be safe, be smart, and think about what you are doing.

That goes for the everyday world, too. Think about what you are doing before you actually do it. Don’t end up “famous” on the internet for something that you regret. Because that isn’t fame worth having.

God gave us amazing brains that can compute all kinds of things and also reason out all kinds of situations. Make sure yours is in the “on” position, and I will do the same.

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen? - Numbers 23:19

About the Photo

As is true of so many of my photos, this one benefitted greatly from a bit of post-processing to give it a bit more eye-catchingness. Here is a before-and-after comparison:

As you can see from the right part of the above photo, the original image was a bit dull and colorless. Thankfully, some tinkering in Raw Therapee using the original Raw file made a huge improvement. Colors are now more vibrant, dark parts (including the Deck 4 Promenade) are brighter, and the whole photo is quite a bit more interesting. As I often say, it was worth the rather small amount of time it took to make the photo look better.

And yes, I know that “eye-catchingness” is not actually a word. But I am guessing that you knew what I meant by that, which is the goal of communication, after all.
