Rain on the Disney Dream Verandah

Raindrops covered the rail and chair on our verandah as we sailed on the Disney Dream with the Disney Cruise Line.

While we had lots of fun on our Disney Cruise, it wasn’t all blue skies and sunshine, unfortunately. We did get some rain, particularly on our Castaway Cay day. This photo was in fact taken after we had sailed away from Castaway Cay for the day, and we were also sailing away from the rain, as you can see some breaks in the clouds in the background.

Fortunately, our next day was a day at sea, and Captain Henry and the crew were able to steer the ship away from any rain, making that day a sunny day, which did help to make up for the previous day.

When you go on a cruise, the weather is always a big unknown, especially when you are tied down to a specific place, such as Castaway Cay. That is unfortunate in a way, because you have saved and planned for months in advance, if not longer, and you want everything to be just perfect for such a vacation. But if you go with the attitude that the weather is out of everyone’s control and that you will just make the best of whatever you get, it makes the rain a lot easier to handle. Because we couldn’t enjoy the beach in the rain, we decided to go see the live-action remake of “Cinderella,” which was showing in the ship’s movie theater that afternoon. So the day was far from wasted. It just took a bit of a change in plans, and then we were fine.

And besides, the day wasn’t a total loss. We did have a fun morning at Castaway Cay. And I did get to take this cool photo with the interesting clouds in the evening, too. Sometimes, you just have to take what you are given and make the most of it.
