Looking at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World

One of our traditions on these Florida trips is visiting the Magic Kingdom Resorts, riding the Monorail around to each one. We usually eat at Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian Village Resort, and then after eating we usually walk out to the beach.

This 2022 trip was no different because we once again did all of those things. And even though we have done them before, they are always fun. And the views are always nice, too. I always enjoy the evening view of the Grand Floridian Resort across Seven Seas Lagoon, the same view that you can see in the photo above. And just for a nice effect, I waited around for a boat to come by before taking my photo. Once again, the view was nice. I suppose that is why we keep that tradition going.

Laura on the Beach

In this photo, Laura is enjoying the view of the Grand Floridian and Seven Seas Lagoon from a swing on the beach at the Polynesian Village Resort. Except that she paused to look at me when I said, “Smile for the camera!” We were finishing up our Cokes from supper at Captain Cook’s and enjoying the views.

What is the difference between just doing the same thing over and over again and tradition? We sometimes like to enjoy similar experiences to what we have done before. But we are not necessarily trying to relive the past. We are just doing what we enjoy.

But then we also enjoy going new places, too. Our trips to Kansas over the last year and a half have reminded us of that.

So I don’t think we are necessarily stuck in a rut, doing the same things repeatedly. We do have some things that we “traditionally” do, but we are not bound to those traditions. If we had not been able to visit the Magic Kingdom Resorts, we would have been just fine. And the next time we get a chance to do something new, we will take it, too.

For us, a mixture of old and new is enjoyable. We do the things that we like, and we like to do new things, too. It is a nice balance.

As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. - 2 Thessalonians 3:13

About the Photos

Because it was twilight and close to getting dark when I took these photos, I greatly increased the color saturation when I processed these. The original photos were just a little dark and dull. But I think these new versions are much more appealing than how they originally looked. It is always fun for me to change things around just a little, hopefully making the photos look even more appealing.
