Laura and a Hawaiʻi Sunset

Good Memories

Laura and a Hawai’i Sunset

In this photo from our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip, Laura enjoys a beautiful sunset near the old Russian Fort Elizabeth while children play in the water off in the distance. I can see why people talk about sunsets in Hawaiʻi, because we saw some really nice ones.

We had lots of great times in Kauaʻi, and I am very thankful for all of the memories that we made while we were there. Since that time, we have made lots of other memories, too. However, they are from things such as high school football games and elementary school program preparations. Not quite as exciting as Hawaiʻi, but I am thankful for those memories, too.

Even the things that may not always be what you are wanting can give you some good memories, as long as you look at those things with the right attitude. We are greatly blessed. We have a son who enjoys football, and Laura has a job that she enjoys where she gets to put on a school program. There are times when we might rather be doing other things, but we are still blessed with those things we get to do.

If you have the right attitude, everything still may not be enjoyable, but it can still be a blessing. If we all have that attitude, we can also be a blessing to others by showing them a good attitude to have, even when things might be difficult.

Be thankful for what you have. It will change the way you look at things.

Thankfulness

As I write this, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. On that particular day, many people stop to be thankful for what they have. And that is good.

However, if you are reading this at sometime other than the fourth Thursday in November, it is still a good time to be thankful. You do not have to only be thankful once a year. It is something that you can do every day.

Here are a few things I am thankful for:

Laura - That is my wonderful wife, if you did not know.

Jaylin - Our son. As he is growing up, the days we have with him are growing short.

Our extended family - That also includes those who are not necessarily related to us by blood but are still family.

Our church family - I do not see how some people survive in this world without a good, solid church family. We have so many blessings because of our good church family.

Our home - It is a nice place to live.

Our animals - Even though they frustrate us sometimes.

Our physical blessings - We have an overabundance of blessings.

And most of all, our God, who gives us all good things.

Count your many blessings. All year long.

Bible Verse

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. - James 1:17

About the Photo

I spent a little extra time on this photo to get Laura to be light enough but to also control the light on the scene behind her. I liked the silhouettes of the children in the background, too. They were having a fun time, and we were having fun watching them. I like what they add to the photo.
